  • New collection boxes at HAT: Münzer Deutschland GmbH installs two collection containers for used cooking oil on the HAT site.
  • Expansion of the collection system: The boxes expand the existing Münzer collection system in NRW and Hesse.
  • Sustainable processing: Collected fat is processed into sustainable biofuel, reducing CO2 emissions and protecting the sewer system.

Münzer Deutschland GmbH is continuing its successful initiative for the environmentally friendly collection of used cooking oil under the motto ‘Get rid of the grease’. Two new collection containers on the premises of Hildener AT are now available to citizens. The inauguration ceremony took place at the weekend as part of the 160th HAT summer festival.
The new collection boxes offer the people of Hilden a practical way to dispose of their used cooking fat properly. They are part of the Münzer collection strategy, which has already been successfully implemented in several cities in North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse.

‘The fat-burning machine is running’

‘We process the collected used cooking oil into sustainable biofuel, which protects the environment and reduces the burden on the sewerage system. But more importantly, we are making a key contribution to the decarbonisation of the transport sector. Because every litre of used cooking oil helps to save three kilos of CO2,’ explains Albert Bechtoldt of Münzer Deutschland GmbH.

To ensure that people don't forget to dispose of their used cooking oil properly at home, visitors to the summer festival were given cooking spoons as giveaways. Because: ‘Sustainability starts in the kitchen. It is important that people remember to dispose of used cooking fat correctly when they are cooking.’ The interest in the new collection containers was overwhelming: ‘Visitors literally snatched the wooden spoons out of our hands. The ‘fat-burning machine’ is running like clockwork.’
