Münzer Germany expanding collection of used cooking oil: New collection boxes in Offenbach

Münzer Bioindustrie GmbH, one of Austria's leading biodiesel producers and collectors of used cooking oil, is expanding its operations in Germany. Following the successful launch of its first collection boxes in Heusenstamm, new collection containers are now also being installed in Neu-Isenburg and Dreieich.

In co-operation with the DLB Dreieich & Neu-Isenburg AöR municipal service provider, a number of collection boxes are being placed around the Offenbach district, especially at recycling centres and municipal storage depots. The first collection boxes have also recently been installed in the neighbouring state of North Rhine-Westphalia. You will find a list of sites at www.muenzer.de.

“They offer the public an easy, environmentally friendly way to dispose of their used cooking oil,” explains project manager Johann Trojan. “Just pour the used fat into an empty bottle and dispose of it in our box. It's as easy as that.”

The Münzer collection boxes are emptied regularly, with the used cooking oil being collected and processed into sustainable biodiesel. Just one kilogramme of used cooking fat or oil can be used to produce a kilogramme of biodiesel, which can save three kilogrammes of CO2. "Everyone who disposes of their used cooking oil with us is thus making a significant contribution to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and so helping to protect our climate," explains CEO Ewald-Marco Münzer.

As he reports, Münzer is intending to extend the network of collection points to other town and cities around Germany in future: “By expanding our collection point network in Offenbach, we have already taken an important step towards establishing a sustainable waste management system. The task now is to roll out our sustainable collection system consistently throughout Germany.”
