Climate protection made easy

  • New collection centres in Bad Berleburg and Freudenberg: Sustainable disposal of used cooking oil is now even easier for citizens.
  • More climate protection through recycling: Collected used cooking oil is processed into environmentally friendly biodiesel and contributes to CO2 reduction.
  • Comprehensive network in NRW: Münzer Deutschland is continuing to expand its used cooking oil collection system.

Münzer Deutschland continues to expand its sustainable collection network in the Siegen-Wittgenstein district. With a total of 17 new collection points in Bad Berleburg and Freudenberg, citizens will have easier access to a simple and environmentally friendly disposal option for used cooking oil. The new locations complement the existing collection points in the neighbouring towns of Kreuztal, Hilchenbach, Remscheid, Wuppertal, Erndtebrück and Hilden.

More than just waste disposal - a contribution to the environment

‘With the new collection points, we are giving even more people the opportunity to get actively involved in climate protection. Every litre of used cooking oil that ends up in one of our boxes is processed sustainably,’ explains Albert Bechtoldt from Münzer Deutschland GmbH. ‘The used cooking oil is converted into environmentally friendly biodiesel, which means that up to 93% less CO₂ is emitted than when fossil diesel is used.’
In addition to the positive impact on climate protection, the collection system also makes an important contribution to urban infrastructure. ‘Incorrectly disposed of grease can place a considerable burden on the sewerage system. With our offer, we are providing an ecologically and technically sensible solution,’ adds Ewald-Marco Münzer, Managing Director of Münzer Deutschland GmbH.

‘We are delighted when many join in’

The collaboration with the towns of Bad Berleburg and Freudenberg emphasises the shared responsibility for a sustainable future. ‘We would be delighted if many people took part, because just one kilogramme of used cooking oil means a saving of three kilogrammes of carbon dioxide,’ reports Maik Burbach, head of the Freudenberg town council's treasury department.
The town of Bad Berleburg was also happy to integrate the offer as the most sustainable small town in Germany in 2020. ‘This initiative is another step in the right direction to reduce the burden on the environment and make sensible use of resources,’ emphasises Marco Dieckmann.

A growing network in NRW

With the new collection boxes in Bad Berleburg and Freudenberg, Münzer Deutschland collection network now comprises a good 40 locations in North Rhine-Westphalia alone. ‘Our aim is to create a sustainable disposal option for used cooking oil across the board. The strong response from the public motivates us to continue on this path,’ explains Ewald-Marco Münzer.
