Recovery of raw materials

Energy from waste

We collect waste and residual materials and process selected materials into renewable energy sources such as BioDiesel. During the production process, by-products such as glycerin are recovered for further use. Other residual materials are collected and treated in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. With our experience in waste management and recovery, we provide reliable solutions across different areas of the value chain.

Used cooking oil collection

The first step is the collection. Used cooking oil (UCO) is collected in special containers from private households, restaurants, hotels and other catering and food businesses.

Disposal of used cooking oil

We operate our own fleet. This means we can ensure that Münzer Bins
containing used cooking oil (UCO) are exchanged, and Münzer Boxes emptied, on a regular basis. All we leave behind are clean, completely emptied containers, and satisfied customers.

Retrieval and recycling

After being collected, the used cooking oil (UCO) is cleaned at our processing plant. This involves removing contaminants such as food residues or water in order to obtain a high-quality raw material as the end-product.

BioDiesel from used cooking oil

The purified used cooking oil (UCO) is turned into BioDiesel by the chemical processes of esterification and transesterification. In addition to BioDiesel, this also produces high-grade glycerine. The catalyst is utilised as a component in the fertiliser industry.

BioDiesel –

The waste-based fuel

Through our innovative approach to resource utilisation and waste recovery, we contribute to a long-term approach to business. The processing of used cooking oil into BioDiesel in particular shows that waste materials are more than just waste: they are recyclables that can be turned into resources and raw materials. Each kilogram used cooking oil processed into BioDiesel can save up to approx. 3 kg of CO₂ equivalent* compared to fossil diesel.

*The stated figure is a theoretical model value in accordance with RED II/III and applies to BioDiesel made from 100% pure used cooking oil. As virgin vegetable oil is also added in our production process, the actual CO₂ savings are lower.
