New UCO collection boxes for Aachen Region

Münzer Deutschland GmbH is expanding its collection system for used cooking oil and is now active in the Aachen region. In cooperation with RegioEntsorgung AöR, two collection containers have been installed in each of the towns of Baesweiler, Würselen, and Herzogenrath. In addition, the system in nearby Linnich (Düren district) has been expanded with two more boxes, complementing Münzer’s existing presence in the area.

This marks another step in Münzer’s consistent growth strategy – with the goal of transforming used cooking oil into a valuable resource in the circular economy, while contributing to environmental and climate protection.

Simple solution, big impact

Münzer’s collection system allows citizens to dispose of their used cooking oil and kitchen fats in a clean, easy, and cost-free way. The process is as simple as it gets: residual oil is poured into a clean, sealable plastic bottle and dropped into one of the Münzer collection boxes.

The collected oil is then processed by Münzer into high-quality biodiesel. Compared to fossil diesel, this biofuel produces up to 93% fewer CO₂ emissions. Proper disposal also protects sewer systems from blockages and helps reduce municipal wastewater treatment costs over time.

Proven system now also available in the Aachen region

With its launch in the Aachen region, Münzer is tapping into yet another area in North Rhine-Westphalia. The locations were selected in close coordination with RegioEntsorgung AöR to ensure everyday accessibility – for example, near supermarkets, glass recycling points, or recycling centers.

Münzer is also strengthening its presence in the Düren district: following a successful rollout in the city of Düren in 2024 in collaboration with the Dürener Service Betrieb (DSB), the addition of boxes in Linnich further expands the regional network.
