New Münzer collection point for used cooking oil at the recycling centre Rodgau
- New collection unit for used cooking oil now operational at Rodgau recycling centre
- Official opening attended by Mayor Max Breitenbach
- Expansion of the collection network across the city already in planning
A new collection option for used cooking oil is now available in Rodgau: in cooperation with Münzer Deutschland, a dedicated collection unit has been installed at the local recycling centre, enabling residents to dispose of used cooking oils and fats easily and cleanly. The facility was officially opened last week in the presence of Mayor Max Breitenbach, who personally tested the system.
Whether from frying pans, deep-fat fryers, or jars of antipasti, used cooking oil is generated in almost every household. Yet it is still frequently disposed of via the sink or residual waste – with negative consequences for both the environment and infrastructure.
The new Münzer unit provides a simple alternative: used oil can be deposited in sealed containers and is then processed appropriately.
“Circular economy begins in everyday life,” says Albert Bechtoldt, Head of Sales at Münzer Deutschland. “With this new collection unit, we are creating a low-threshold solution in Rodgau that makes it easy to dispose of used cooking oil correctly while also contributing to climate protection.”
From waste to resource
The collected used cooking oil is subsequently processed by Münzer and converted into sustainable biodiesel. In this way, an everyday waste product is transformed into a valuable energy source. For the city of Rodgau, this not only represents an additional service for residents, but also a tangible contribution to resource conservation and CO₂ reduction.
Further locations planned
The new collection point at the recycling centre forms part of a growing regional network. Münzer is already active in neighbouring municipalities such as Heusenstamm, Langen, Egelsbach, and Dreieich. Plans are in place to further expand the offering in Rodgau, with discussions regarding additional locations already underway.
“Our aim is to make collection as simple and accessible as possible,” says Managing Director Ewald-Marco Münzer. “The closer collection points are to people’s everyday lives, the better the circular system works.”
How to take part
Using the Münzer unit is straightforward:
- Pour used cooking oil into an empty plastic bottle
- Deposit the sealed bottle in the collection unit at the recycling centre
- Contribute to the circular economy
With this new collection unit, Rodgau is setting a clear example of practical sustainability – integrated directly into everyday life for its residents.
