Statement by Ewald-Marco Münzer on the current debate regarding fuel prices
The current debate about rising fuel prices shows once again how strongly geopolitical developments affect energy prices. From the perspective of the bioindustry, this is also an opportunity to focus more closely on the role of renewable fuels.
“Geopolitical upheavals are putting European consumers and, even more so, domestic companies under enormous pressure. In my point of view, this is once again the right time to reduce the tax burden on renewable, and thus European and regionally produced, energy. This would enable us, for example, to make mobility more affordable and at the same time advance climate protection in the transport sector.”
“In times of crisis, this would not only stabilize prices, but also reduce penalties.”
“The example of Germany, where E10 has long been cheaper and cars run smoothly on the higher biofuel content, clearly shows that biofuels reduce costs. Biofuels are generally six cents per liter cheaper- and even if there is a theoretical increase in consumption, it is only around one percent.”
says Ewald-Marco Münzer, CEO of Münzer Bioindustrie GmbH.
