Münzer Launches Austria’s First Nationwide Awareness Campaign on Used Cooking Oil Collection

29. September 2025
  • Nationwide Awareness: Münzer launches Austria’s first national awareness campaign on the proper disposal of used cooking oil.
  • Simple Handling: Collect used cooking oil in plastic bottles and dispose of it at collection points across Austria.
  • Sustainable Impact: Every drop collected becomes a valuable raw material for renewable fuel production.

With the claim “Small Drops. Big Impact.”, Münzer Bioindustrie is launching Austria’s first nationwide information campaign dedicated to the proper collection and disposal of used cooking oil. The campaign focuses on out-of-home billboards across the country, complemented by radio, social media, print, video-on-demand spots, and digital formats. The goal: to make the simple everyday practice of collecting used cooking oil visible – and to turn what seems like waste into a valuable raw material.

“Far too much used cooking oil still ends up in sinks or general waste – and with it, a huge amount of potential is lost,” says Hanna Mohr, Head of Marketing at Münzer. “Our message is clear: collecting and disposing of used cooking oil properly is incredibly easy – and enables us to turn it into new energy.”

Small Drops, Big Impact

The campaign deliberately focuses on practical, everyday actions. Anyone who fills their used cooking oil into a clean, sealed plastic bottle and brings it to a nearby collection point is actively contributing to climate protection. Collection points are already available throughout Austria, and Münzer’s network of Münzer Boxes and partners continues to grow.

“Climate action starts right at your doorstep,” Mohr adds. “Our systems make correct disposal easier than ever. This creates new routines that anyone can integrate into their daily lives with minimal effort.”

Growing Awareness – But Untapped Potential Remains

A recent consumer survey shows: three out of four people are willing to collect their used cooking oil properly – if a simple system is available. This is exactly where Münzer’s campaign comes in.

“Separate waste collection has long been part of everyday life in Austria. Liquid waste such as used cooking oil, however, requires dedicated systems,” emphasizes Ewald-Marco Münzer, Managing Director of Münzer Bioindustrie. “Our goal is to make these solutions available nationwide. This is how waste becomes energy – and how climate protection begins in the kitchen.”
